ABOUT

Our learning program encourages professionals to create their own model of change for family-owned businesses. The program will assist each participant to develop and enhance their own style of working with family-owned businesses and/or their business clients.

Learning sessions will be broken into six segments; each with two sessions (two hours each). The following are examples of learning concepts.

  • A positive psychological approach to change management
  • The unique role of vision in creating your ideal future
  • The influence of your family of origin and understanding your consulting model
  • The value of love in family and family businesses
  • Understanding yourself as an agent of change
  • The importance of family rituals
  • The importance of effective communication and collaboration skills

Self-directed cohort groups will meet once per month during the program to discuss and support the learning from a multi-disciplinary point of view. Each participant will be expected to participate in the group sessions and share their perspectives about what they have learned and how it applies to their advising relationships.

As I reflect on the course of my career and my life journey, I get ever more eager to share what I’ve learned. What has been astonishing to me is that the secret to success has not come from books and degrees or the seminars I’ve attended. Rather, it lies in the discovery of myself, my journey and the narrative of my life. This discovery has enabled me to better connect with my clients.

Please don’t get me wrong. The professional backgrounds and competencies we all have are foundational as we build the necessary skills to provide essential services to our clients. However, what makes a difference in coaching clients is our capacity to help them understand their essence, their purpose and their reason for being (la raison d’etre).

As we better understand our stories, our purpose, our narrative and our gifts, we can more fully assist our clients in discovering theirs. The Family Business Learning Program will help you discover your narrative, your stories, your purpose, and help you become more effective with your family business clients.

Together, we will embark on a journey to reflect and then perfect both our connection and effectiveness with people.
